Kedarnath Temple

About Kedarnath

Kedarnath is one of the most sacred temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. The shrine stands near the Mandakini river and is surrounded by snow covered Himalayan peaks.

The route to Kedarnath is spiritually important and logistically demanding. Helicopter services help pilgrims complete the yatra with better time management while still requiring proper passenger verification and document checks.

Jyotirlinga

These twelve shrines are traditionally praised in the Dwadasha Jyotirlinga Stotram, and visiting them is considered highly auspicious by many devotees of Shiva.

Hemkund Sahib

About Hemkund Sahib

It is a sacred Sikh shrine dedicated to Guru Gobind Singh, who is believed, according to Sikh tradition, to have meditated at this site in a previous life.

The gurdwara stands beside the pristine Hemkund Lake, surrounded by seven snow-clad mountain peaks.

It is also revered by Hindus, who associate the nearby Lokpal Temple with Lakshman from the Ramayana.

History and Facts

Shri Kedarnath Dham

Kedarnath is one of the most sacred temples dedicated to Shiva and is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. It is also one of the four holy shrines of the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand.

According to Hindu tradition, after the Mahabharata war, the Pandavas sought Lord Shiva's forgiveness. Shiva, unwilling to meet them, took the form of a bull. When Bhima tried to catch the bull, it disappeared into the ground, and its hump appeared at Kedarnath. The other body parts are believed to have appeared at four nearby temples, together known as the Panch Kedar.

The present stone temple is traditionally attributed to the Adi Shankaracharya, who is believed to have revived the shrine in the 8th century CE. A memorial dedicated to him stands behind the temple.

Shri Hemkund Sahib

Shri Hemkund Sahib is one of the holiest Sikh pilgrimage sites in the world, situated at an altitude of 4,329 meters (14,200 feet) in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Surrounded by seven snow-covered Himalayan peaks and the crystal-clear Hemkund Lake, it is renowned for its spiritual significance and breathtaking natural beauty.
